Dancers of Carole Alexis Ballet Theatre /Ballet des Amériques company go through pointe shoes very fast, particularly during peak rehearsals time. Often company members will “kill” one or two pairs of custom-made pointe shoes during rehearsal or performance time. Pointe shoes are very expensive and can cost from $135 to $150. The Pointe for Pointe Fund helps to cover part of the expense of such beautiful, required, and critical tool that are pointe shoes.
All used pointe shoes are recycled and given to pointe-shoe-art projects, intended to encourage recycling while introducing young people to the arts.
